Staff Accountant

Company Overview: A mid-sized U.S. domestic property and casualty insurance company with a nearly 100-year history of strong financial performance is seeking a Staff Accountant. The role involves maintaining general ledger account balances and preparing financial reports in compliance with accounting standards. Job Responsibilities: Analyze general ledger account balances and compile financial information. Develop financial and managerial accounting information. Assist in the preparation of accounting reports and reconciliations. Suggest new accounting procedures and recommend improvements. Determine expenses for services and distribute costs. Maintain and reconcile certain general ledger accounts. Apply applicable accounting and reporting rules and statutory regulations. Record financial transactions in accordance with SSAP and GAAP. Prepare financial reports for financial analysis regarding account status. Participate in accounting projects. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in accounting. 1-3 years of financial accounting experience. Experience with spreadsheet software packages. Familiarity with automated or manual accounting systems.
