At SJMC we support front line nurses with service line dedicated Educators and a Rapid Response Resource Nurse, who provides monitoring and bedside support to help during high acuity and high risk situations. Overview ICU SJMC: Number of beds on unit : 25-bed unit Patient Population or type of patients cared for on unit : Nurses provide comprehensive care to critically ill adult patients with a wide range of complex medical and surgical conditions, including: cardiac surgery patients, acute stroke patients, neurosurgical patients, patients requiring continuous renal replacement therapy, septic shock patients needing advanced hemodynamic monitoring Nurse to patient ratios : 1-2 patients/nurse Nursing skills/equipment used : Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy, Impella, Intra-aortic Balloon Pump, Alaris IV pumps, Arterial line & Central Line management Weekend/holiday or call schedules or any other scheduling items : 2 holidays per year, every third weekend Other information regarding unit : 24/7 in-house ICU provider coverage, virtual ICU providing nursing experience 24/7 for available questions/mentoring, active unit-based council POSITION SUMMARY : Protects, promotes and restores health and wellness by practicing at the highest level of the Registered Nurse licensure; collaborating with providers and multidisciplinary care team members to provide care coordination across the continuum. Assesses and supports physical symptoms, provides psychological support to patients, friends, and families, mentors assigned team members, promotes best practices, and maintains professional disposition at all times. The RN Hospital Inpatient/ED operates in units that provide 24/7 care in the hospital. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: License/Certifications: Current Registered Nurse licensure by the State Board of Nursing in appropriate state (Illinois or Michigan) Current American Heart Association HealthCare Provider BLS is required prior to start date of employment.
