Operations & Facilities Specialist

JOB DESCRIPTION: ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for a hands-on, engineering-minded Facilities & Operations Specialist to support our growing team, office infrastructure, hardware, and operational projects.   This is a highly practical role for someone with an engineering or technical background who enjoys building, setting up, troubleshooting, and solving real-world problems. In addition to office and facilities responsibilities, this person will occasionally support hardware setup and data collection projects.   The ideal candidate is comfortable working with tools and equipment, figuring out how things work, and taking ownership of hands-on tasks in a fast-paced startup environment.   KEY RESPONSIBILITIES ENGINEERING & TECHNICAL SUPPORT • Provide hands-on support for hardware, equipment, and technical setups • Set up, configure, and troubleshoot computers, workstations, and other equipment • Assemble, install, test, and maintain hardware and equipment • Identify and resolve basic mechanical, electrical, or technical issues • Support hardware preparation and deployment for internal and project needs • Work closely with engineering and project teams on hands-on operational needs   FACILITIES & OFFICE OPERATIONS • Set up and maintain workstations, desks, furniture, and office equipment • Support office moves, equipment relocation, furniture assembly, and installations • Coordinate movers, vendors, deliveries, and service providers • Manage shipping, receiving, packages, and office supplies • Help maintain a clean, organized, and functional workspace • Support company signage, printed materials, logos, and other office-related needs   PROJECT & DATA COLLECTION SUPPORT • Occasionally support data collection and other field/operational projects • Assist with hardware preparation, transportation, setup, and breakdown • Provide hands-on support at project sites when needed • Troubleshoot equipment or operational issues during projects   GENERAL OPERATIONS • Take ownership of ad hoc technical and operational projects • Quickly identify practical solutions to unexpected problems • Support cross-functional teams as the company grows   REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field preferred • Hands-on engineering or technical experience strongly preferred • Experience working with hardware, equipment, tools, or physical systems • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills • Comfortable assembling, installing, testing, and repairing equipment • Basic computer hardware and IT troubleshooting skills • Highly hands-on, resourceful, and willing to take on practical tasks • Strong organizational and communication skills • Comfortable working onsite in a fast-paced startup environment • Able to lift and move equipment, assemble furniture, and perform other physical tasks as needed   NICE TO HAVE • Engineering lab, manufacturing, robotics, hardware, or field engineering experience • Experience with prototyping, testing, or hardware integration • Experience supporting data collection or field operations • Basic knowledge of networking, electronics, mechanical systems, or tools • Startup experience   IDEAL CANDIDATE The ideal candidate is an engineer or technical professional who enjoys hands-on work — someone who can troubleshoot a laptop, assemble and install equipment, help set up a data collection environment, coordinate an office move, and figure out practical solutions when something unexpected comes up. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building, fixing, setting up, and making things work, rather than a purely administrative or desk-based position.
