[Job Radar](https://jobradar.live/) / [Jobs](https://jobradar.live/ilanlar) / Lead Budget Analyst Active Hybrid Multiple Locations Posted · 28.09.2026 USAJOBS # Lead Budget Analyst Office of the Secretary of the Interior This position is part of the Interior Business Center (IBC), Acquisitions Services Division (AQD), AQD Business Operations Division. The incumbent will be responsible for providing advice, oversight, and guidance regarding IBC AQD's funds and financial management operations. Critically analyzes the AQD financial projections, identifies requirements shortfalls, and recommends creative solutions such as system improvements, creation of new financial tools, and strategies to increase efficiencies. Analyzes and interprets budgetary policies and guidance from higher headquarters to plan, formulate, justify and execute the budgets and programs affecting the financing and accomplishment of AQD mission objectives. Conducts long range planning considering financial scenarios and the potential for resource, funding, and/or program changes. Provides technical expertise in a financial system for monitoring and reporting financial operations and provides meaningful financial data to AQD Leadership, personnel, and customers. As team leader for financial operations, provides guidance, assistance, and oversight of work performed by team members. Instills flexibility and adaptability to change in team members based on fluctuations in workload and/or assignments. At the GS-14 level, you must meet the following qualification: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is in or related to the line of work of this position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies to successfully perform the duties of this position. More specifically, this requirement involves experience the following: Provides advice, oversight, and guidance regarding fiscal policy and law, risk analysis, internal management controls, payroll/manpower, accounting and budget, and programming issues that affect operations. Plans, processes, and executes budgets. Specifically, exercises a thorough knowledge and understanding of government financial laws and directives, departmental and organizational regulations, and management policies and practices to plan and administer the full range of budget and financial responsibilities. Acts as a liaison between offices within the organization by dealing with expense and revenue validation and problem resolution. Allocates funds to organizations and individual programs by analyzing budget estimates, historical expenditures, and approved funding. Leads staff in support of a financial program and/or project, ensuring performed work is compliant and timely. TIME-IN-GRADE: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b). Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience US Citizenship is required. Suitable for Federal employment, determined by background investigation. Must obtain and maintain a favorable background investigation through Continuous Vetting throughout the duration of employment. All employees are required to be enrolled in Continuous Vetting, which authorizes government agencies to receive notifications of criminal activity and financial monitoring on individuals who hold low risk, public trust, or national security positions. Direct Deposit of pay is required. Selective Service registration required for male applicants, unless exempt. Status candidates must meet time-in-grade (see Qualifications).
