OR Scientist
Arute Solutions
We're looking for someone who genuinely loves solving hard optimization problems and wants to see that work matter in production, not just in a research paper. This role sits at the center of how we make decisions at scale, and the person who takes it will spend most of their time building, refining, and maintaining the mathematical models that drive those decisions. This isn't a role where optimization is a skill you pull out occasionally. It's the job. If you get energized by formulating a tricky integer program, finding practical ways to solve large combinatorial problems, arguing with a solver until it converges in reasonable time, and then turning that model into something a team can actually rely on day to day, you'll feel at home here. What You'll Do
• Design, build, and maintain integer and linear programming models that solve real operational problems.
• Work hands-on with optimization solvers like CPLEX, Gurobi, Hexaly to formulate, tune, and troubleshoot optimization models.
• Work on combinatorial optimization problems such as routing, scheduling, and resource allocation.
• Develop practical solution approaches, including heuristics, when exact optimization alone is not the right fit for the problem or required runtime.
• Write and maintain the surrounding code that puts these models into practice, primarily in C# and .NET.
• Use Python to prototype ideas quickly, test hypotheses, and read through existing model code.
• Collaborate with the team where AI and ML tools, including LLM agents, might reasonably fit into our workflows.
• Partner with stakeholders to translate messy, real-world constraints into clean mathematical formulations. What You'll Need
• A strong background in operations research, with solid depth in integer and linear programming. Experience with vehicle routing problems (VRP) or related routing and scheduling problems.
• Hands-on experience with CPLEX or Gurobi.
• Experience solving combinatorial optimization problems and a good understanding of when to use exact methods versus heuristic approaches.
• The ability to write and maintain production-quality code around optimization models. Experience with C# and .NET is a plus, but strong optimization thinking matters more than which language you've used to express it.
• Working Python skills; enough to script, prototype, and comfortably read through model code.
• A solid working understanding of AI and ML concepts, including what LLM agents are and how they're used in practice.
• The ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Nice to Have
• Experience with cash management, banking domain, e-commerce, and logistics sectors.
• Experience designing or implementing heuristics or metaheuristics.
• Experience with forecasting or time-series models.
• Experience building agent-based workflows or tool-calling with an LLM. Only Istanbul-based candidates will be considered.
