# RECREATION ASSISTANT

About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Arts & Crafts Center, Air Force Academy, Colorado. This position does include benefits.
Manages the matting and framing shop at the Skills Development Center. Prepares custom matting and framing orders, to include standard and archival framing, cuts and builds frames, cuts glass, sells resale framing and other arts and crafts supplies, notifies and registers patrons for upcoming classes. Teaches basic, intermediate, and advanced matting and framing techniques. Provides guidance to patrons framing their own projects. Orders, receives and inspects all framing supplies, (i.e., frames, mattes, foam core, etc.). Verifies all prices, calls the company to resolve ordering discrepancies or product quality issues. Ensure that framing inventory is properly stored and identified (labeled), that framing scraps are fairly priced, and merchandise is displayed. Operates a cash register, prepares daily cash handling reports, and makes deposits, as required. Conducts a quarterly inventory of all framing supplies. Responsible for end-of-month paperwork and file maintenance. Assures that shop is kept clean and orderly. Opens and closes the facility as required. As needed, assists patrons with their self-help ceramics projects, and engraving. Ensure that all patrons adhere to established safety policies. Performs other related duties as assigned. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Applicant must have progressively responsible experience in matting and framing techniques (i.e .. matte cutting, archival matting techniques, and frame assembly). Experience in custom mat cutting using the following methods: single. double. V grooves. inlay, 3-0, oval, double oval and custom decorative cuts. Skill in cutting glare and non-glare glass for all sizes and shapes of artwork. Some experience in inventory procedures. Skill in measuring accurately. Oral and written communication skills. Good interpersonal skill. Ability to operate various types of matting and framing equipment. Ability to resolve common arithmetical problems and make change when receiving payments from customers. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment physical is required. Required to work an uncommon tour of duty. Satisfactory completion of a Tier 1 background investigation. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
