Role Overview The Mammographer performs mammography procedures, including screening, diagnostic, and interventional studies, under physician supervision. They utilize x-ray technology to assist in patient diagnosis across all ages, ensuring safety and image quality. Key Responsibilities Operate mammography equipment and support systems such as HIS, RIS, PACS, ensuring technical precision. Practice radiation safety and adhere to regulatory and accreditation standards. Position patients accurately, demonstrating proper anatomy for optimal imaging. Maintain patient confidentiality and provide compassionate care for patients of all ages. Coordinate exams across departments, communicate effectively with staff, patients, and families. Handle scheduling, documentation, and equipment maintenance, reporting issues promptly. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure departmental supplies are stocked. Access and administer relevant medications in accordance with procedures. Qualifications Graduate of a radiologic technology program with current ARRT certification; mammography certification required within six months of eligibility. Valid state radiographer license and CPR certification.
