# Outpatient Complex Coder - Surgical

This position is fully remote Role Overview As an Outpatient Complex Coder, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and compliant coding of diagnostic and procedural information from patient medical records. Your work directly impacts reimbursement, patient care evaluation, and administrative decision-making, supporting both healthcare providers and patients across our system. What You Will Do Review, analyze, and code diagnostic and procedural information from patient medical records for billing and reimbursement purposes. Abstract and compile accurate patient data to support medical research, patient care evaluation, and administrative decision-making. Ensure compliance with coding guidelines, third-party reimbursement policies, regulations, and accreditation standards. Promote accurate database information and optimize reimbursement through precise coding practices. What You Will Need Required Qualifications High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Additional specialty coding certification or five (5) years of coding experience. Minimum of two (2) years of coding experience. Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), CPC, or CCS. Thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, disease processes, medical terminology, pharmacology, and coding systems. Preferred Qualifications One to two (1-2) years of college or additional coursework in Accounting, Business, Healthcare Administration, or Medical Record Sciences. Specialty coding experience.
