# Systems Engineer (Sr. Linux)

Implement and architect server/systems infrastructure in a large 24x7 environment. Be able to implement from design diagrams a highly available and scalable system infrastructure. Candidate should be able to translate a design concept into a working diagram highlighting individual hardware/software components required to integrate the project into existing infrastructure. Manage work completion to engineering milestones by ensuring that development, integration, test and production environments are all in sync; implement revision change control Support and maintain communication and project workflow between development group of architecture and engineering teams and the operations/implementation group. Experience with and understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Openstack and VMware Advanced experience with the following VMware concepts: VMware vRealize Operations Manager Distributed Switches vMotion/Storage vMotion Able to create, maintain & deploy templates Create clones & customization profiles High Availability (HA) & Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS) Host profiles Install and configure Dell blades chassis and servers (Rack mounted & Blades) 10+ years of experience in networking industry. B.S (or higher) in computer science or equivalent. Experience with Redhat Enterprise Linux 5.x
• 6.5, Redhat Deployments using Kickstart installations, Redhat Clustering configuration and deployments Experience with Oracle Linux 5.6
• 6.4 and Oracle RAC cluster technology Cloud Computing: AWS, VMWare and Openstack Network bonding and VLAN Trunking Server platforms: Dell & HP rack and blade systems Experience with the deployment and management of storage hardware: 3PAR, EMC, Isilon IQ, iDRAC configuration & management and NetApp NAS appliances SAN hardware and technologies: EMC/Brocade, SAN Directors, Fibre-Attached storage, iSCSI, RAID levels and best practices Linux administration to include networking, storage, multipathing configuration Familiarity with: NTP, DNS, NFS, Load Balancing Fiber Channel zoning concepts Brocade administration, NPIV & Access Gateway Mode HTTP servers and understanding of content delivery/CDN integration High Availability and Scalability Technology: Brocade Load Balancers, clustering software, auto-failover, Ethernet bonding Office and Interpersonal Skills Must be able to work successfully in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment, and effectively multi-task multiple priorities in a team-oriented setting. Candidates should possess excellent written/verbal communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills and be able to communicate ideas and concepts between different departments. Demonstrate leadership and organizational skills by seeing a project from engineering design concept to final product deployment. Must be able to work both independently on projects and cooperatively within a team environment. At DIRECTV we entertain the future.
