If you have actively moved on from traditional interface paradigms, this role offers the opportunity to architect the foundational aspects of our AI-powered experiences. We are seeking a Design Lead focused on inventing how AI-powered computers can learn about and assist our users. You'll alternate between deep exploratory work and shipping features that will fundamentally change how people interact with technology. You will architect complex AI-powered systems and craft interfaces that proactively anticipate user needs. Success in this role requires a proven track record of bringing creative AI vision to life through the technical validation of concepts using cutting-edge AI technologies. You'll have the space to explore challenging problems while maintaining a clear focus on shipping products that work. Our goal is to create technology that feels obvious once you experience it. We're looking for designers who can envision a world where AI computing enhances our human capabilities rather than demanding our attention. What You Might Do Architect and engineer high-fidelity, functional prototypes of ambient, multi-modal, AI-powered interfaces that adapt dynamically to human behavior across the hardware ecosystem.  Develop new approaches for how computers capture and surface information naturally. Create new paradigms for information architecture in AI-first systems, including focusing on user-editable AI memory and trust systems. Validate concepts by utilizing advanced prototyping workflows, integrating state-of-the-art AI technologies and LLM pipelines. Collaborate with AI research scientists, designers and engineers to bring experimental ideas to production Define clear interaction patterns for AI system behavior, feedback loops, and graceful degradation during latency or hallucination states. Focus deeply on key areas like memory systems and generative interfaces Essential Qualifications 5+ years of digital product design experience, with a proven track record of shipping products Strong ability to code or vibe-code and deploy custom interfaces (SwiftUI, Python, Javascript, or Origami). You must be fluent in incorporating modern AI-first IDEs and agents (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) to fluidly bridge visual design and code. (Figma-only workflows, alone, will not suffice). Deep, proven experience building and shipping production-level AI technologies (particularly LLMs and Agentic workflows) in professional product environments.  Portfolio demonstrating novel approaches to complex interaction problems and non-deterministic outputs Ability to balance exploratory design work with practical implementation constraints Strong systems thinking skills and ability to design for emergent behaviors Enthusiasm for building intuitive, empathetic technology that keeps the human-in-the-loop. Curiosity for learning new technologies and finding unexpected solutions to complex problems Preferred Skills A passion for tinkering and experimentation Background in information architecture or knowledge management systems Understanding of machine learning best practices and their practical, scalable applications in building intelligence-first UIs.   Experience designing products that learn from people’s behavior Interest in cognitive science and how humans process/organize information We request that you submit a presentation (Keynote, PDF or Figma preferred) of 1-2 examples of your work, along with any passion projects that you feel represent you as a designer. Salary:  $230,000- $270,000  Compensation & Benefits (Full-Time Employees) The salary range for this role is listed above. Final salary offered is based upon multiple factors including individual job-related qualifications, education, experience, knowledge and skills.
