Role Description: The Senior Accountant role is a full-time, on-site position located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This role is responsible for managing general ledger activities, preparing and reviewing journal entries, and reconciling key balance sheet accounts. The Senior Accountant will oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, including the preparation of financial statements, variance analyses, and supporting schedules. Day-to-day work includes monitoring accounts payable and receivable transactions, assisting with cash management, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and applicable regulations. The role also involves supporting audits, improving internal controls, collaborating with operations and management to explain financial results, and providing financial insights to support decision-making across the transportation and logistics entities. Qualifications: Strong general accounting skills, including proficiency in general ledger management, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes. Ability to prepare and analyze financial statements, perform variance analysis, and provide clear financial reporting to leadership. Experience working with accounting and ERP software, advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, lookups), and comfort with data analysis tools. Knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and audit practices, with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and risk management. Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with operations, finance, and leadership teams. Strong organizational and time-management abilities, including capacity to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or progress toward certification is preferred. Prior experience in transportation, logistics, or a multi-entity corporate structure is a plus.
