# RN-Med Surg Float (Full-time, Day shift)

About The Role The Registered Nurse Float position in Hoboken is a dynamic nursing role designed to provide flexible and comprehensive patient care across multiple nursing departments. The primary objective is to deliver high-quality nursing services by adapting quickly to different clinical settings, ensuring continuity of care and patient safety. This role requires a nurse who can efficiently assess patient needs, implement care plans, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize health outcomes. The float nurse will be instrumental in filling staffing gaps, responding to fluctuating patient volumes, and maintaining operational efficiency throughout the healthcare facility. Ultimately, this position supports the hospital’s mission to provide exceptional care by being a versatile and reliable nursing professional. Minimum Qualifications Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New Jersey or eligibility to obtain licensure. Graduation from an accredited nursing program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing). AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification. Minimum of 2 year of Med Surg/Telemetry experience in an acute care setting. Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. Experience working as a float nurse or in multiple hospital units. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as MediTech. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Responsibilities Provide direct patient care in various hospital units, including medical-surgical, telemetry, emergency, and intensive care as needed. Perform comprehensive patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and administer medications and treatments according to established protocols. Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans. Document patient information accurately and timely in electronic health records to ensure continuity and quality of care. Respond promptly to patient emergencies and changes in condition, initiating appropriate interventions and escalating care when necessary. Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatments, and discharge instructions to promote recovery and wellness. Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements to ensure a safe care environment. Skills The required clinical skills enable the nurse to perform thorough patient assessments, administer treatments safely, and respond effectively to emergencies, ensuring high standards of patient care. Critical thinking and adaptability are essential as the nurse transitions between different units, each with unique patient populations and care protocols. Proficiency in documentation and use of electronic health records supports accurate communication and continuity of care across multidisciplinary teams. Preferred skills such as advanced certifications and experience with multiple specialties enhance the nurse’s ability to manage complex cases and provide leadership in diverse clinical environments. Strong interpersonal and communication skills facilitate collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare professionals, fostering a supportive and efficient care atmosphere. Day shift, 7:00 am
• 7:30 pm Full Time, 72 hours/bi-weekly
