Automotive Technology Teacher

Salary commensurate with experience and training. Salary range starting at $67,765.00. Requirements To be legally employed as a Teacher, you must possess a valid teacher certificate. Select The Following Criteria Area of Interest: Career and Technical Teacher Subject Area: Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Occupations Grade Level: Adolescent • Grades 7-12 Title: Vehicle Mechanical Repair (Including Heavy Equipment Operation) 7-12 Type of Certificate: Initial Certificate or Transitional A Certification Only candidates who currently possess appropriate NYS certification, or qualify for the Transitional A teaching certificate, will be considered for this position. General Responsibilities To provide instruction in a specific trade or skills that lead to successful post-secondary education or employment. Specific Duties Responsible for planning and implementing a career and technical program of instruction that integrates academics into the curriculum. Works in cooperation with other instructors to deliver quality instruction. Utilizes equipment, supplies and materials that reflect what is current in the field. Provides different modalities of instruction to meet the varied educational needs of students. Provides a system to monitor progress, attendance and competencies of students. Instructs students in the appropriate safety precautions and the safe operation and use of tools, machinery and equipment. Establishes standards of conduct and behavior that reflect a teaching learning environment that is positive and productive. Provides for the control, storage, maintenance and use of materials and property to prevent loss or abuse. Initiates and maintains regular contact with advisory committee representatives. Consults with the guidance counselor and administration on program and student issues. Encourages education beyond the BOCES program for students. Provides for enrichment type of activities such as shadowing programs, field trips, etc. Orders materials and supplies necessary for instruction. Keep current in the field by belonging to professional associations, attending workshops, reading journals and other publications, taking courses and outreaching to the business community on new and improved equipment and methods.
