IT SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR Freeform builds AI-native manufacturing systems that unify software, hardware, and physics to produce industrial-scale parts at the speed of human ideation. We are looking for an early-career IT As a Junior System Administrator at Freeform. In this role, you will keep the systems that power our factory, engineering teams, and business operations running every day. The work spans helpdesk support, on-premise infrastructure, endpoint management, and networking: bare metal servers, virtualization platforms, storage, and the network fabric that connects them. You will also be the first line of support for the people who depend on those systems. The ideal candidate has a “no job too big or small mentality”, learns fast, treats security as a default, and wants to own more of our IT infrastructure as the company grows.  Responsibilities:  Provide day-to-day helpdesk and desktop support across Windows and Linux environments  Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot on-premise infrastructure, including bare metal servers, virtualization platforms, and SAN storage  Administer and support core identity services, including Active Directory and Azure AD / Entra ID  Manage endpoints across the company using Intune, including application packaging, configuration profiles, and Group Policy (GPOs)  Support and troubleshoot LAN and WiFi networking, including switching, cabling, wireless access points, and connectivity issues  Apply a security-first mindset to all work: patching, hardening, access control, and safe handling of accounts and data  Set up, support, and troubleshoot AV and video conferencing systems across conference rooms and shared spaces  Onboard and offboard employees, including account provisioning, hardware setup, and access management  Maintain inventories of IT assets and licenses, covering hardware, software, and license assignments from purchase to retirement  Document systems, network topology, workflows, procedures, and fixes to build out and maintain the IT knowledge base  Work with senior IT staff on larger infrastructure projects and take on more scope over time  Basic Qualifications:  3+ years of experience in a system administration role  Hands-on exposure to on-premise infrastructure: bare metal servers, virtualization, SAN storage, and networking  Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including LAN and WiFi  Experience administering Windows systems and working familiarity with Linux  Experience with Active Directory and Azure AD / Entra ID  Familiarity with endpoint management (Intune, application packaging, GPOs)  Experience setting up and troubleshooting AV and video conferencing systems  Nice to Have:  Experience with Kubernetes (k8s)  Familiarity with configuration management and infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible or PowerShell DSC  Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)  Familiarity with monitoring stacks such as Grafana and Prometheus  Ability to write basic scripts (Python, Bash, or PowerShell) to automate routine tasks  Experience supporting Siemens Teamcenter  Experience working in an engineering environment, including supporting engineering applications and development tools (CAD packages, MATLAB, Visual Studio, etc.)  Familiarity with CMMC and NIST 800-171 compliance requirements  Ability to operate a scissor lift for racking equipment and running cable  Strong documentation habits: tracking assets and licenses, writing runbooks and procedures, and keeping records current as systems change  Security-first mindset in daily operations and system administration  Additional Requirements:  Ability to lift 50+ lbs., climb ladders, and work at height  Ability to operate a scissor lift for racking equipment and running cable  Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation   Willingness to work occasional weekends to support maintenance windows and critical operations   Location:  Based in Hawthorne, our vertically integrated facility brings technology development, R&D, and production together under one roof. Our intent is to offer a salary that is commensurate for the company’s current stage of development and allows the employee to grow and develop within a role.  In addition to the significant stock option package, the estimated salary range for this role is $80,000 - $100,000 per year.
