Senior/Staff Software Engineer, Linux Platform US East Coast (Eastern Time) • Remote $230,000 to $287,500 Cash compensation + significant equity Unable to provide or takeover visa sponsorship for this position A cybersecurity product company is hiring a software engineer to build the Linux platform layer of its appliance: the software that sits between the product and the operating system. What you'll do You'll design and build the Python services that control how the appliance runs on Linux: starting and managing system services, handling networking and secure connections between components, automating the setup and upgrade of a distributed PostgreSQL cluster, and making the platform observable with OpenTelemetry. You'll also improve the internal build and release tooling. What we're looking for Expert Python, written as production-grade, tested, maintainable software Deep Linux experience expressed in code : managing processes and services (systemd), resources, permissions and OS configuration programmatically, including wrapping system calls Solid networking: TCP/IP, TLS, routing and firewalls, and the ability to debug them Hands-on OpenTelemetry instrumentation Strong written communication for an async, remote team Roughly 5+ years for Senior, 8+ for Staff. Staff candidates will also have set technical direction across teams and mentored senior engineers. Nice to have Debian packaging, STIG hardening, distributed PostgreSQL (EDB/PGD), vSphere, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, cryptography fundamentals, and experience shipping software as a Linux appliance or image. Not a fit if your Linux work is mainly administration and Ansible/Bash automation, or your platform background is managed cloud and Kubernetes rather than the OS itself.
