Senior Counsel | Medical Malpractice Defense | Los Angeles&nbsp; Bring Your Experience to a Team That Will Trust You to Use It.&nbsp; Tyson &amp; Mendes is seeking an experienced Senior Counsel with 8+ years of litigation experience to join our Los Angeles Medical Malpractice team.&nbsp; This opportunity is designed for a seasoned litigator who is comfortable taking ownership of sophisticated matters, exercising independent judgment, working directly with clients, and moving cases forward.&nbsp; If you have built a strong foundation in medical malpractice, professional liability, healthcare litigation, or complex insurance defense and are ready for greater responsibility, we want to talk.&nbsp; Sophisticated Healthcare Litigation&nbsp; You will work alongside Partner Mark Kiefer, whose nearly 40 year practice focuses on healthcare and medical and professional malpractice.&nbsp; Mark represents a broad range of healthcare professionals and organizations, including hospitals, physicians, nurses, dentists, psychologists, psychiatrists, skilled nursing facilities, detox centers, correctional healthcare providers, home healthcare professionals, EMTs, and paramedics.&nbsp; His practice also includes elder abuse, wrongful death, personal injury, and general liability matters.&nbsp; For an attorney who enjoys the intersection of medicine, law, strategy, experts, and high stakes litigation, this is an opportunity to build deep experience in a sophisticated practice.&nbsp; Work With a Recognized Medical Malpractice Litigator&nbsp; Mark brings nearly four decades of litigation experience and is AV Preeminent rated by Martindale Hubbell.&nbsp; His experience includes litigating the landmark California Supreme Court case Wilson v. Parker, Cover &amp; Chidester, which established the interim adverse judgment rule.&nbsp; He is also a frequent CE and CLE presenter and previously served as Special Counsel and Managing Partner before joining Tyson &amp; Mendes.&nbsp; Your Experience Matters Here&nbsp; At the Senior Counsel level, we're not looking for someone who needs every next step mapped out.&nbsp; We're looking for someone who can take ownership.&nbsp; You should be comfortable:&nbsp; Managing sophisticated matters and competing deadlines Developing and executing case strategy Taking and defending depositions Working with medical experts Handling substantive motion practice Communicating directly with clients and carriers Evaluating exposure and driving cases toward resolution or trial&nbsp; Mark maintains a significant caseload, making this an especially strong opportunity for an experienced attorney who enjoys autonomy and knows how to keep litigation moving. Put It to Work.&nbsp; At this point in your career, you shouldn't need someone standing over your shoulder.&nbsp; You need interesting cases, meaningful responsibility, trusted autonomy, flexibility, and experienced lawyers around you when you need them.&nbsp; Bring your experience to Team LA and help us continue building one of our most sophisticated litigation practices.&nbsp; &nbsp; RESPONSIBILITIES&nbsp; Develop a case theme that is more compelling than any plaintiff ploy for sympathy or anger Refuse to accept mediocrity, the average, the standard or the norm in anything Independently handle court appearances, depositions, briefs and trials Work as part of a team with all levels of experiences Routine communications with clients Cultivate relationships with the firm’s existing and future clients Provide leadership and direction with respect to less experienced attorneys &nbsp; &nbsp; REQUIREMENTS&nbsp; JD from an ABA approved school Must be licensed in the State of California 8+ years of solid litigation experience, specifically with litigation support, deposition and trial preparation 3+ years of medical malpractice experience or significant medical malpractice exposure Ability to manage full case handling responsibilities, including all facets of discovery and trial Experience handling insurance defense matters preferred Experience with time management systems Proficiency in MS Suite, specifically Word, PowerPoint and Outlook Ability to think and act independently and with minimal supervision Outstanding listening, verbal and written communication skills Professional appearance and demeanor&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; COMPENSATION PACKAGE&nbsp; The base salary for this position ranges from $160,000-$190,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications Attorneys are eligible for an annual billable hours bonus ranging from $10,000 and then aggregating with $7,500 for every additional tier Comprehensive benefits coverage offered, including plans available at zero employee cost (average annual employer contribution for health/vision/dental/life coverage is $700-$1,700) Employees benefit from a 401(k) program that includes a 100% match on the first 3% contributed and a 50% match on the following 4-5% Student loan repayment assistance&nbsp;or 529 college savings plan (full-time attorneys after one year with the firm) $100-$200/month Paid parental leave at base pay Employees receive a monthly technology reimbursement of $60&nbsp; &nbsp; BENEFITS&nbsp; Employee Assistance Program through HealthAdvocate Comprehensive in-house training and leadership development opportunities Firm Provided CLE Programs and Paid Bar License Renewal Fees Flexible vacation policy for attorneys Defined pathway to partnership Internal diversity and inclusion programs, such as the Women’s Initiative and Young Professionals Initiative Firm-wide charitable giving program Numerous social and off-site events each year to enrich your relationships with your colleagues Flexible Work Model: Remote, hybrid, or onsite options available&nbsp; &nbsp; ABOUT TYSON &amp; MENDES&nbsp; Click here to learn more about the Tyson &amp; Mendes Office!&nbsp; (944) The Tyson &amp; Mendes Office
