Customer Service Representative

Job Title: Customer Service Representative Employment Type: Full-Time Location : Lake Forest, IL, United States About the Role: Grainger Inc is seeking a customer-focused and empathetic Customer Service Representative to join our team in Lake Forest, IL (in partnership with Skills for Chicago). In this frontline role, you will manage inbound customer communications, facilitate order placement, resolve customer inquiries across multiple systems, and deliver responsive service to help businesses run safely and efficiently. Key Responsibilities: • Handle high volumes of inbound calls while delivering professional, empathetic, and efficient customer service. • Navigate multiple internal systems and databases quickly to research and resolve customer inquiries. • Assist customers with order placement, product details, pricing, billing issues, credits, and returns. • Solve problems independently using critical thinking, sound judgment, and available resources. • Accurately log customer interactions, order details, and follow-up actions into tracking systems. Required Skills & Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent educational background required. • 1+ year of proven customer service experience required (high-volume inbound call center experience preferred). • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams). • Prior experience working with CRM platforms and SAP enterprise systems is a plus. • Strong active listening, verbal communication, and problem-solving abilities. • Program eligibility: Must reside in Illinois or Indiana and be authorized to work in the United States.
