Role Mission The mission of the Electrician is to support the electrical and automation systems that keep our production environment running—building, testing, maintaining, and improving electrical systems while troubleshooting issues with a hands-on, problem-solving mindset. Expected Outcomes A Successful Electrician Will Assemble, wire, and test control cabinets and electrical systems according to technical specifications and applicable standards Ensure electrical installations are functional, safe, well documented, and properly maintained Diagnose and resolve electrical faults quickly to restore machine availability Support the implementation and improvement of automation systems Troubleshoot PLCs, I/O signals, sensors, and actuators in collaboration with the automation team Contribute to reliable and efficient production through preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement Key Responsibilities Assemble and wire control cabinets according to circuit diagrams and technical specifications Install, inspect, maintain, and repair electrical systems and automated production equipment Diagnose electrical faults and identify root causes in a systematic manner Read and interpret PLC programs and perform I/O diagnostics Check sensors, actuators, and other electrical and automation components Support troubleshooting and minor PLC program adjustments together with the automation team Document electrical changes, repairs, and system modifications Support the implementation and optimization of automation systems Work closely with engineering, automation, and production teams to maintain equipment availability Follow applicable safety standards, procedures, and work instructions Competencies Technical Know-How Good knowledge of control cabinet construction and electrical wiring Technical understanding of automation systems, sensors, and actuators Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation Experience troubleshooting and maintaining automated production equipment Experience with PLC programs and I/O diagnostics; experience with Beckhoff TwinCAT is an advantage Ability to systematically diagnose and resolve technical problems Careful, structured, and safety-conscious approach to electrical work Professional and Personal Skills Strong problem-solving mindset Interest in technical systems and understanding how things work Hands-on and proactive approach to troubleshooting and maintenance Calm and focused when resolving technical issues Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with others Willingness to think beyond the immediate task and contribute to improvements Required Qualifications Education and Experience Recognized electrician qualification, vocational training, or equivalent technical education and experience Prior experience with electrical installation, control cabinets, automation systems, or industrial equipment Experience troubleshooting and maintaining automated production equipment Experience with PLC diagnostics and I/O troubleshooting is preferred Experience in a manufacturing or production environment is an advantage Language Skills English is required Ability to understand and follow technical documentation and verbal instructions in English Ability to clearly document technical issues and communicate with engineering and production teams Work Model On-site work is mandatory, first shift Our facility is in San Antonio, TX Equal Opportunity Employer Statement Blackwave Texas Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
