PHP Developer

Revpanda Group

Revpanda is looking for a hands-on PHP Developer to join our development team and work across several web projects. In this role, you’ll be responsible for both back-end development and front-end implementation, working with existing codebases built primarily with Yii2 and Laravel. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable getting into unfamiliar code, understanding how things work, and quickly becoming productive. You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of features and improvements from development through to delivery, while contributing to the performance, security, and overall quality of our web projects. Responsibilities: Develop, maintain, and improve multiple web projects built with PHP, primarily using Yii2 and Laravel. Work across existing codebases, quickly understand unfamiliar architecture and business logic, and become productive with minimal guidance. Develop and maintain back-end functionality, APIs, integrations, business logic, and database interactions. Design, optimise, and maintain MySQL databases, including schemas, queries, indexes, and data relationships. Identify and resolve performance issues, including slow database queries and application bottlenecks. Implement front-end functionality independently, converting Figma designs into clean, responsive, and cross-browser web pages. Ensure high attention to detail when implementing designs, including spacing, typography, layouts, responsiveness, and UI behaviour. Work with HTML, CSS, JavaScript/jQuery, and UI frameworks such as Bootstrap or Tailwind. Write clean, maintainable, and reusable code while following established coding standards and project conventions. Use Git effectively, including working with branches, keeping commits focused, and participating in code reviews. Identify and address common web security risks, including SQL injection, XSS, CSRF, insecure file uploads, and access-control issues. Troubleshoot bugs and production issues, investigate root causes, and implement reliable fixes. Take ownership of assigned tasks from understanding requirements through development, testing, deployment, and follow-up. Work independently across several projects, prioritising tasks and switching between different codebases and contexts while maintaining quality. Collaborate with other developers, designers, SEO specialists, and business stakeholders when required. Contribute to continuous improvements in code quality, application performance, development processes, and overall project stability. Apply technical SEO and page-speed best practices where relevant to the projects. Maintain and improve existing infrastructure and development workflows, including Docker, Linux/nginx, Redis, queues, and automated testing where applicable. Requirements: 3+ years of professional PHP experience. Confident in at least one modern PHP MVC framework (Yii2 or Laravel is a plus) and able to pick up others quickly. Strong MySQL: schema design, indexing, joins, and the ability to diagnose a slow query. Solid front-end skills: HTML, CSS, JavaScript (vanilla or jQuery), Bootstrap or Tailwind • able to build a clean, responsive, cross-browser page from a Figma file with attention to spacing, typography and detail. Git discipline: small commits, branches, code review. Security fundamentals: SQL injection, XSS, CSRF, file uploads, access control. Able to work independently across multiple projects and switch context without losing quality. What we offer: Diverse career growth opportunities. Friendly and supportive colleagues. Highly competitive compensation and performance bonuses. Attractive “Refer a Friend” bonus program. Fully remote work opportunity. Advanced benefits package (public holidays, annual vacations, covered sick leave, additional days off, etc). Paid trainings and work-related courses. Mental health support (psychological sessions, coaching, therapy). Monthly virtual teambuilding's to stay connected and engaged.
