We are backed by strategic investment and product partners such as TDK Ventures and Eclipse Ventures.&nbsp; We are a team of engineers, operators, entrepreneurs, and partners driven by a shared ambition to set the new performance standard for renewable energy and grid resilience.&nbsp; About the Role –&nbsp;Staff&nbsp;Power Systems Engineer&nbsp; We're&nbsp;looking for a&nbsp;power systems&nbsp;electrical&nbsp;engineer to own the electrical architecture,&nbsp;integration, and deployment&nbsp;of our&nbsp;energy storage&nbsp;site across&nbsp;applications, including&nbsp;utilities&nbsp;and data&nbsp;centers,&nbsp;as examples.&nbsp;You'll&nbsp;define architectures;&nbsp;functional, operational, and availability requirements;&nbsp;interface requirements&nbsp;with other power systems;&nbsp;installation requirements;&nbsp;and&nbsp;SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) requirements.&nbsp; You will work closely with ESS Engineering, Business Development, and Project Execution,&nbsp;to&nbsp;translate&nbsp;customer requirements into&nbsp;system&nbsp;designs,&nbsp;ensuring our products&nbsp;meet&nbsp;customer standards&nbsp;such as&nbsp;utilities&nbsp;and&nbsp;data centers. This is a highly visible role with significant customer-facing responsibility.&nbsp;The ideal candidate is a&nbsp;deeply&nbsp;knowledgeable&nbsp;power systems&nbsp;engineer who is equally comfortable presenting to&nbsp;technical and non-technical&nbsp;customer&nbsp;teams&nbsp;as they are conducting&nbsp;in-depth&nbsp;research and&nbsp;analysis.&nbsp; What You'll Do (Responsibilities)&nbsp; Serve as the engineering point-of-contact for&nbsp;site-level&nbsp;power systems throughout the product lifecycle and across installations&nbsp; Conduct power systems studies, analyses, designs, and test plans including load flow, short-circuit, arc flash, protection coordination, and grounding studies&nbsp;using industry standard tools&nbsp;(PSS/E,&nbsp;PSCAD,&nbsp;ETAP, etc.)&nbsp; Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers and partners to meet Peak’s objectives&nbsp; Establish commissioning&nbsp;test plans and support&nbsp;commissioning&nbsp;execution&nbsp; Support the analysis and resolution of site issues and failures, including root cause and corrective action (RCCA)&nbsp; Define integration requirements for BESS deployments including grid connection, protection, load profiles, fault ride-through, and backup/UPS architectures, as examples&nbsp; Drive interconnection and grid-code compliance (IEEE, NFPA, NEC, UL, NERC), working with regulatory and compliance teams&nbsp; Maintain power systems studies, integration guides, and customer-facing documentation&nbsp; Travel to sites to support commissioning and issue resolution&nbsp; &nbsp; What You'll Bring (Qualifications)&nbsp; Bachelor’s degree in&nbsp;Electrical&nbsp;Engineering&nbsp; 8+ years&nbsp;in&nbsp;power systems engineering, with&nbsp;experience&nbsp;in utility-scale energy storage,&nbsp;grid interconnection, or&nbsp;data center power infrastructure&nbsp; PE (Professional Engineer) license, or actively pursuing licensure&nbsp; Expert&nbsp;knowledge of&nbsp;AC/DC power distribution, protection and control, and&nbsp;grid&nbsp;interconnection&nbsp;(fluent&nbsp;in&nbsp;both&nbsp;high-level&nbsp;architecture&nbsp;and detailed-analysis levels)&nbsp; Experience&nbsp;with power systems analysis tools (ETAP, PSCAD, SKM, PSS/E, or equivalent)&nbsp; Proven&nbsp;track record&nbsp;of customer-facing technical&nbsp;communication&nbsp;with&nbsp;utility&nbsp;and&nbsp;infrastructure customers&nbsp; Working knowledge of IEEE 1547, IEEE 2800, IEEE 2030, NEC, NFPA 70/855, UL 9540, UL 1741&nbsp; Comfort&nbsp;operating&nbsp;with&nbsp;ambiguous&nbsp;or undefined&nbsp;challenges&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; Preferred Qualifications&nbsp; Master’s&nbsp;degree in electrical engineering.&nbsp; Experience with&nbsp;power&nbsp;systems for&nbsp;utility interconnection&nbsp;or&nbsp;data center&nbsp;projects&nbsp; Background in BESS commissioning and grid-tied inverter systems (PCS, PMS, EMS integration)&nbsp; Familiarity with grid-forming inverter behavior and islanding/microgrid operation&nbsp; Familiarity with utility interconnection agreements, FERC/NERC compliance, and ISO/RTO market rules&nbsp; Experience with requirements management tools (Jama,&nbsp;Polarion, or similar)&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Peak Energy is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce.
