# Staff Accountant

Staff Accountant Location: Somerville, NJ | Hybrid | $85,000 Annually We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a growing accounting team in the Somerset County area. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with strong general ledger experience who enjoys working through month-end close, performing account analysis, and supporting accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, analytical, and comfortable managing multiple accounting responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of core accounting functions while collaborating with a supportive team. Key Responsibilities Support the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate completion of accounting activities. Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals and adjusting entries. Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies. Perform detailed account analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance research. Assist with accounts payable processing and related accounting activities as needed. Review account balances and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness. Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies while maintaining well-organized financial records. Collaborate with the accounting team to support process improvements and maintain compliance with internal accounting procedures. Qualifications Prior experience in a Staff Accountant or similar general accounting role. Strong general ledger and month-end close experience. Solid understanding of journal entries, account reconciliations, and account analysis. Some accounts payable experience. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines. Compensation & Work Arrangement Salary: $85,000 annually. Location: Somerset County, NJ. Work Arrangement: Hybrid.
