# Customer Service Specialist

Role Description The Customer Service Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Front Royal, VA, serving as a primary point of contact for residents and other stakeholders. This role handles incoming inquiries in person, by phone, and via email, providing accurate information about town services, processes, and policies. Daily tasks include responding to questions, resolving routine issues, documenting interactions, and directing individuals to appropriate departments or resources. The Customer Service Specialist shall perform the collection of utility, tax, licensing, and other revenue from citizens, customers, and businesses and for the reconciling of their revenue receipts in the finance payment center. In addition, the customer service specialist will assist coordination of establishing utility account and the actions necessary for collection of payment. This position collaborates with colleagues across the town offices, communicates clearly and professionally, and supports special projects or community initiatives as needed. Qualifications Demonstrated skills in Customer Service and Customer Support to address inquiries and assist residents effectively. Experience fostering Customer Satisfaction and enhancing Customer Experience in a public-facing or service role. Strong Phone Etiquette and professional communication skills for handling calls and written correspondence. Ability to manage multiple requests, prioritize tasks, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with basic office software (e.g., email, word processing, spreadsheets) and comfort learning municipal systems. Strong interpersonal skills, including patience, empathy, and the ability to work with diverse community members. High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant experience in customer service, public administration, or office support is preferred. Reliability, integrity, and commitment to providing equitable, non-discriminatory service to all individuals.
