Chief Electrical Estimator

Williams Electric, a division of R.W. Warner, Inc., is looking for a Chief Electrical Estimator. The Chief Estimator will lead the estimating department, oversee the preparation and review of all project bids, set bid strategy, and work closely with leadership and operations to win profitable work and grow the business. Job Duties/Responsibilities: Lead, mentor, and manage the estimating team. This will include assigning projects, setting priorities, and managing workloads to meet bid deadlines. Review and approve all estimates and proposals for accuracy, completeness, and profitability before submission. Develop bid strategy and make go/no-go recommendations on project opportunities in partnership with company leadership. Estimate small to large, complex, or high priority projects. Establish and maintain estimating standards, procedures, and best practices across the department. Build and maintain historical cost data, labor units, and pricing databases to improve estimate accuracy. Identify project risks, scope gaps, and exclusions, and recommend value engineering opportunities to increase competitiveness and profitability. Negotiate with suppliers, subcontractors, and service providers to secure favorable pricing and terms. Build and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, owners, and key clients. Lead pre-bid meetings, site walks, and post-bid reviews to understand client needs and analyze win/loss results. Ensure a smooth handoff of awarded projects to project management and field operations, including budgets, schedules, and scope details. Compare estimated versus actual job costs to refine future bids. Track the bid pipeline and report on estimating activity, hit rates, and forecasts to leadership. Required Skills/Abilities: Previous experience as an electrician or in the electrical construction industry. 3-5 years of experience as an Electrical Estimator, including at least 1-2 years in a senior or supervisory estimating role. Expert ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical and non-technical documents. Proven track record of producing highly accurate estimates for a wide variety of commercial and industrial electrical projects. Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to train, develop, and motivate an estimating team. Strong business acumen and a solid understanding of job costing, margins, and risk. Exceptional quantitative, negotiation, and client relationship skills. Outstanding proposal writing and presentation skills. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Dependable, conscientious, and well-spoken. Proficiency in Microsoft platforms (Outlook, Word, Excel). Preferred, but Not Required Skills/Abilities: Advanced experience with Accubid Anywhere estimating software, including database management and administration. Experience with digital takeoff software (e.g. Bluebeam, Trimble). Knowledge of NEC code requirements.
