General Summary This role will be part of the Sustaining and Manufacturing Engineering team that is focused on establishing and maintaining the production of our devices within our contract manufacturing and supplier base. This person will be responsible for addressing any electrical issues associated with our released devices. This could include end of life evaluations, design updates, and proactive changes to improve reliability, serviceability and manufacturability. This person will also be responsible for the testing and programming of PCBA’s and other electrical aspects. Primary Responsibilities Resolve design issues on electronic devices, in the resolution of field failures and in-process test failures. Includes resolution of functional design flaws leading to improved product reliability and improved test yields. Initiate circuit design changes to address component obsolescence and source replacements or redesigns. Integrate these changes into the electro-optical and electro-mechanical systems in energy based aesthetic devices. Assess the impact of component and design changes on form, fit, function, performance, reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance Work with systems, mechanical, optical and other functions to understand product issues and develop, validate and implement design and process changes to prioritize product improvement projects. Be the electrical/electronic subject matter expert to support quality, manufacturability, and reliability evaluations and corrective actions. Perform root-cause analysis and failure analysi s using electrical schematics, test data, laboratory equipment, and structured problem-solving methods Development, qualify and maintain electrical test equipment and processes used in the assembly and test of PCBA’s, electrical components and our final devices. Create engineering documentation and procedures including ECO’s and validating design changes. Work with safety agencies to obtain approvals for component's replacements Knowledge/Educational Requirements 3 to 5 years of directly related experience. Medical device experience preferred Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Circuit analysis and troubleshooting skills Working knowledge of high voltage circuits and components used for laser generation is a plus. Working knowledge of Orcad (Capture) Schematic drafting program or equivalent. Experience with printed circuit layout programs (Orcad PCB Designer) preferred Familiarity with the IEC 60601 compliance standards for medical devices and IPC-A-610 Class 3 workmanship standards is a plus. Ability to operate electronic test equipment such as oscilloscope, multimeters, and safely work with high voltage circuits. Experience using structured methodologies such as 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and/or FMEA Expectation of around 10% of travel, focused on both domestic and international.
