SUMMARY: Develop, deliver and document power system operations training for NYISO operations staff and other operating entities within New York and neighboring regions.&nbsp;&nbsp;Deliver training in classroom, simulation, computer based and OJT formats.&nbsp;&nbsp;Provided instruction through one-on-one, small group and large group forums.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; ESSENTIAL DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES: Participate in&nbsp;all phases of the Systematic Approach to Training&nbsp;(SAT)&nbsp;in support of the various System Operator Training (SOT) training programs.&nbsp; Collaborate with the training staffs of NPCC Control Areas, the&nbsp;New York Control Area (NYCA)&nbsp;and North American&nbsp;Transmission Owners to deliver joint and coordinated training.&nbsp; Conduct Job Task Analysis&nbsp;in conjunction with Grid Operations to&nbsp;determine&nbsp;the&nbsp;need&nbsp;to&nbsp;update Control Room Operator tasks&nbsp;and&nbsp;ensure compliance with NERC Standard PER-005 requirements.&nbsp; Document and&nbsp;maintain&nbsp;training records for audit and compliance purposes&nbsp;in accordance with&nbsp;NERC and NYISO requirements&nbsp;utilizing&nbsp;various compliance tools and software programs.&nbsp; Participate in projects of varying scope and complexity&nbsp;in order to&nbsp;develop the training needed to ensure operators have the information and skills necessary to&nbsp;operate&nbsp;the NYCA Transmission System.&nbsp; Conduct&nbsp;User Acceptance Testing (UAT)&nbsp;along with Grid Operations for&nbsp;new projects&nbsp;utilizing&nbsp;the Operator Training Simulator (OTS)&nbsp;to&nbsp;validate&nbsp;proper project behavior and expose the operators to new functionality before going live in production.&nbsp;&nbsp; Contribute towards the continued improvement of training programs&nbsp;as a member of the NYISO Curriculum Review Committee (CRC).&nbsp; Serve as Subject Matter Expert for various&nbsp;operational and training&nbsp;topics&nbsp;in support of&nbsp;NYISO committees and departments.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Participate in regional and national forums&nbsp;related to&nbsp;power system operations&nbsp;and&nbsp;training.&nbsp; SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:&nbsp; None.&nbsp; QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION:&nbsp; Bachelor’s degree in Power System Technology, Electrical Technology, Computer Science, Mechanical Technology or a related technical field preferred. Master’s degree in Education (High School Level) or related experience in formal training and experience in instructional skills and training methods desired. Associate degree or equivalent experience with relevant certifications required.&nbsp; EXPERIENCE: Five years of related technical or scientific/engineering training experience.&nbsp;&nbsp; Demonstrated ability to deliver training to a technical trade school or junior college level.&nbsp;&nbsp; Working knowledge of the use of&nbsp;Energy Management&nbsp;or control system&nbsp;software.&nbsp; Working knowledge of the use of&nbsp;a&nbsp;Simulator&nbsp;application&nbsp;for Training.&nbsp; Documented&nbsp;experience&nbsp;conducting&nbsp;power&nbsp;system&nbsp;related&nbsp;training,&nbsp;power system&nbsp;operation&nbsp;or&nbsp;instructional design experience&nbsp;for&nbsp;technical topics&nbsp;desired.&nbsp; CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: NERC&nbsp;Reliability&nbsp;Certification&nbsp;preferred.&nbsp;Successful applicants will&nbsp;be required&nbsp;to earn a&nbsp;NERC&nbsp;Reliability Certification within six months of joining the NYISO.&nbsp;&nbsp; Accredited trainer documentation and/or educational certification (AMA, Langevin, Navy Master Training Specialist or equivalent) preferred.&nbsp; ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:&nbsp; Ability to read, analyze and interpret&nbsp;engineering&nbsp;drawings, technical manuals,&nbsp;operational criteria documents, business&nbsp;correspondence&nbsp;and procedure manuals.&nbsp;&nbsp;Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff and external industry partners.&nbsp; Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area,&nbsp;circumference&nbsp;and volume.&nbsp;&nbsp;Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.&nbsp; Ability to solve practical&nbsp;and complex&nbsp;problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.&nbsp;&nbsp;Ability to interpret a variety of instructions&nbsp;furnished&nbsp;in written oral, diagram or schedule form.&nbsp; Intermediate competency in Windows operating environment using MS Office applications including PowerPoint,&nbsp;e-mail&nbsp;and&nbsp;browser&nbsp;programs.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; PHYSICAL DEMANDS:&nbsp; While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to perform routine office tasks.  The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
