Position Overview
SteerBridge is seeking an experienced Security Architect to support our government contracting initiatives. This role is critical in designing and implementing secure, compliant, and scalable architectures supporting regulated systems and high-visibility enterprise platforms.
The Security Architect will lead security design, compliance alignment, and risk mitigation efforts across cloud and hybrid environments. This role requires deep expertise in both commercial security standards and federal cybersecurity frameworks, along with the ability to operate in a collaborative, high-trust engineering culture.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure security requirements are integrated across enterprise architecture, including reference models, segment and solution architectures, and systems supporting organizational mission and business processes.
Define and maintain secure architecture baselines for cloud and hybrid environments supporting government data systems, incorporating secure-by-design principles throughout the system lifecycle.
Develop, maintain, and own System Security Plans (SSPs), security policies and procedures, control evidence, and other required compliance artifacts.
Lead security compliance activities from system development and authorization through continuous monitoring, applying and assessing NIST SP 800-53 controls across system and data environments.
Conduct security risk assessments and gap analyses, identify vulnerabilities and control deficiencies, and coordinate remediation efforts with engineering, infrastructure, and compliance teams.
Serve as a subject matter expert for data protection, encryption, identity and access management (IAM), and the secure handling of sensitive information in accordance with organizational security and privacy requirements.
Support security audits, penetration testing, incident response planning, and other security assurance activities while maintaining accurate documentation and evidence of compliance.
Required Qualifications
Eligibility requirements: U.S. citizenship is required for this position under applicable federal contract requirements. Candidate must also be able to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for the role.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
10+ years of cybersecurity architecture experience within federal, regulated, or large enterprise environments.
Deep expertise with federal and commercial security and compliance frameworks, including FISMA, FedRAMP, NIST SP 800-53, GLBA, CCPA, FinCEN reporting, PCI-DSS, GDPR, SOC 2, and ISO frameworks.
Proven experience translating compliance requirements into secure system architectures, technical controls, documentation, and implementation requirements within regulated environments.
Strong knowledge of system hardening, network security, encryption protocols, identity and access controls, and secure software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices.
Experience designing and securing cloud environments using AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) in regulated environments.
Preferred Qualifications
One or more relevant security certifications, such as CAP, CASP, CISM, CISSP, or GSLC.
Master’s degree or PhD in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Experience with FinTech-specific security requirements, systems, and regulatory environments.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop clear, accurate, and audit-ready security and compliance documentation.
Experience collaborating with Security Engineers, Developers, System Administrators, and other technical stakeholders.
