In this role, you will contribute to the creation of innovative, market-relevant product designs within a collaborative, cross-functional environment. You will partner closely with engineering, marketing, and global R&D teams to develop compelling product concepts that balance form, function, and user needs while supporting Emerson’s commitment to innovation, integrity, collaboration, and inclusion. Emerson Tool Company proudly manufactures Ridgid Wet/Dry Vacs, ProTeam Commercial Products, and related accessories. This position may be filled at either the Industrial Designer or Senior Industrial Designer level, depending on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be: Create new product concept themes that enhance visual appeal and market differentiation while thoughtfully integrating mechanical and electrical innovations that address both met and unmet user needs Collaborate as part of a global R&D and Technology team to conceptualize new products, features, and commercial strategies Participate in market research activities, interpret insights, and translate data into highly desirable, Human-centric product designs Ensure consistency in product design language across styling, trade dress, graphics, and packaging Stay current with industrial design trends and apply insights to help keep the product portfolio competitive and relevant Develop and manage industrial design concepts, appearance models, and prototypes for new products Participate in external industrial design research initiatives, including collaborative university studio projects Who You Are You build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives. You experiment to discover new solutions and learn quickly when facing new situations. You communicate effectively by providing timely, relevant information and adjusting your approach to suit the audience and message. You plan and prioritize work by translating broader goals into clear actions that align with organizational objectives. For This Role, You Will Need: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design or equivalent BS or BA 2+ years of experience designing high volume durable consumer products, preferably appliances and/or tools, with a knowledge of manufacturing and molding Demonstrated skills in industrial design, including concept development, visual storytelling, and design execution Experience or foundational knowledge in designing high-volume, durable consumer products, with exposure to manufacturing and molding processes Strong conceptual sketching, rendering, and visualization skills, using both manual techniques and digital tools Experience with 3D modeling in a CAD environment Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with cross-functional partners and leaders at all levels Strong visual presentation and storytelling skills Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite Proficiency with KeyShot A portfolio or work samples that demonstrate design thinking, creativity, and technical capability Legal authorization to work in the United States, without the need for current or future sponsorship Domestic and international travel Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart: 5+ years of experience designing high volume durable consumer products Experience developing or contributing to a cohesive visual brand language A creative, Human-centric approach to problem solving Interest in hands-on, do-it-yourself projects or prototyping activities Experience using 3D CAD software (Siemens NX, SolidWorks, Shapr3D, Rhino) Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Microsoft Office programs Ability to create physical prototypes and mockups.
