This vacancy is for a GS-0344-7, Management and Program Assistant located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, PPC CUSTOMER SERVICE DIVISION in TOPEKA, Kansas. You will serve as a/an Management and Program Assistant and be responsible for completing duties in support of process management and process improvement to increase the efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity of the organization and its programs. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Independently reviewing a wide variety of military human resource, pay, and entitlement processes, policies, procedures, and guidelines. Identifying potential process inefficiencies and recommending improvements to reduce or eliminate weaknesses in transaction processing. Assisting management in reviewing new or proposed military human resource policies, procedures, and guidelines for impact on organizational practices. Using a variety of methods and techniques to evaluate the effectiveness of processes and programs. Pinpointing potential barriers and working with management, system programmers, and military pay systems specialists to develop system and technical requirements documents. Preparing system change request proposals for enhancements. Working with end users, systems analysts, and programmers to test programming solutions prior to the implementation of system changes. Collecting, validating, and analyzing data and information to support improvement of the efficiency of internal and organizational processes. Preparing and providing statistical data and reports to management. Designing new reports, including graphs, diagrams, charts, and other graphics, to assist in measuring program progress and quality of service, and making recommendations on actions to resolve problems and/or increase program/process efficiency. Serving on panels, committees, and working groups responsible for conducting advanced analyses. Providing and/or evaluating analytical data/results and keeping management informed of progress and unusual issues. Developing and designing data visualization products such as reports, charts, diagrams and/or graphs which measure program progress.
