# Administrative Technician

Job Requirements General Summary Under moderate supervision, the Administrative Assistant is accountable to perform secretarial and administrative support for the Manager. Mission All employees are responsible for extending the mission and values of Baltimore Washington Medical Center by dedicating oneself to providing the highest quality healthcare services to the communities we serve. Reporting Relationship Reports to Manager, Nursing Support Services. Working Conditions Works inside. Works in a clean, well lit, fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions and multiple crisis situations. Potential for minimal exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials requiring the observance of Standard (Universal) Precautions and safe handling practices. Expected to work mainly day shift Monday-Friday and weekends/evenings as requested. This position has been classified as low or no exposure risk and does not require the completion of an annual testing but may require "just in time" testing if the need arises. Physical Requirements Requires sitting approximately 75% of the time; frequent standing and/or walking; occasional bending, lifting and carrying supplies weighing up to fifteen (15) pounds. Requires manual dexterity for using keyboard and operating office equipment. Requires visual acuity to use computer monitor and read documents. Talking and hearing necessary for conversations with staff, managers, co-workers, and visitors by phone and personally. Qualifications Work Experience High School diploma or equivalent required. A minimum typing ability of 40 words per minute required. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. One (1) year secretarial experience required. Experience using a business office suite, such as Microsoft, required.
