Responsible for specialized staining and processing as requested by pathologist. Ability to troubleshoot instrument or equipment malfunctions and ensure specimen integrity. Responsible to use critical thinking to assess questionable processes or results and correct or present to supervisor/pathologist for resolution. Histology Technologist ASCP Education: Required: Bachelor's Degree must be obtained within 90 days AND completion of NAACLS accredited Histotechnician or Histotechnology program OR one year of full-time acceptable experience in a histopathology Experience: Preferred: Successful completion of an accredited Histotechnician Program or 2 years on the job training Skills: Excellent organizational, customer relations, planning and analytical skills. Strong mental and visual concentration. Ability to work independently with sufficient knowledge of all aspects of the Cytology department. Good hand/eye coordination. Strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on communication. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Required: Certification as a Histotechnologist from a nationally accredited certifying agency within 90 days of hire Histology Technician Education: Required: Completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician program o r Associate’s degree or 60 semester credit hours from an accredited college/university. If licensed as a Histotechnician prior to 1/1/2005, High School Diploma or Equivalent Experience: Preferred: 2 years' experience in histology Licensure/Certification/Registration: Required: Certification as a Histotechnician from a nationally accredited certifying agency within 90 days of hire Lab Bench Technician Education: Required: Bachelor's degree Preferred: Bachelor's degree in an applied sciences related field Experience: Preferred: 1 Year experience in a laboratory or in medical training Skills: Strong analytical/problem solving skills. Ability to communicate effectively with different levels of management. Demonstrates clear verbal and written communication Excellent time management, interpersonal, presentation, organization, prioritizing, decision-making, and planning skills.
