Role Description The Senior Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Westbrook, ME, responsible for managing and overseeing key accounting functions to support accurate financial reporting and operational decision-making. Day-to-day responsibilities include maintaining the general ledger, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring timely month-end and year-end close processes. The role also involves preparing financial statements, supporting budgeting and forecasting, monitoring cost accounting related to manufacturing operations, and assisting with cash flow and working capital analysis. The Senior Accountant will ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls, collaborate with cross-functional teams on financial data and reporting needs, and support external audits and tax-related activities. This position contributes to process improvements and provides insights that help sustain the company’s focus on quality, efficiency, and strategic growth. Qualifications Strong foundation in general accounting, including experience with general ledger management, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close. Proficiency in financial reporting and analysis, including preparation of financial statements, variance analysis, and support for budgeting and forecasting activities. Experience with cost accounting and inventory accounting in a manufacturing or food production environment, including standard costing and margin analysis. Comfort with accounting and ERP software, advanced Microsoft Excel skills, and the ability to work with computerized manufacturing and financial systems. Knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and compliance requirements; experience supporting audits and tax filings is beneficial. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent professional certification is a plus. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
