Sr. Research Technician - Antibiotic Discovery Center

About the Opportunity Job Summary The Antibiotic Discovery Center (ADC) at Northeastern University is seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Technician to support the development and implementation of a target-based screening platform for antibiotic discovery, assist in downstream hit validation and compound isolation, and contribute to overall laboratory operations in a collaborative research environment. Responsibilities Contribute to development of a novel microfluidics-based high-throughput screening platform Execute biochemical and microbiological assays to identify and validate antibacterial targets. Support high-throughput and focused screening efforts, including assay development, optimization, and data analysis. Participate in hit triage, secondary assays, and compound characterization, including natural product isolation and structure–activity studies. Operate and maintain equipment supporting screening and compound purification (e.g., LC, HPLC, plate readers, microfluidics sorters). Manage lab inventories, supplies, and safety compliance; coordinate maintenance and calibration of shared instruments. Contribute to protocol development, data management, and preparation of reports and presentations. Provide training and technical support to students and new lab members. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field. Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on research experience in an academic or industrial setting. Technical expertise in molecular cloning, bacterial culture, and biochemical or enzymatic assays. Experience with natural product extraction, chromatographic purification, or analytical instrumentation (e.g., LC-MS) is strongly preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to multitask in a dynamic research environment.
