Supervisory Investigator (Hotline)

This position is located in the Department of War Office of Inspector General (DoW OIG), Deputy Inspector General for Administrative Investigations (DIG-AI), Department of Defense (DoD) Hotline Directorate. The DoD Hotline provides a confidential means to report complaints and other matters that involve fraud, waste, abuse, mismanagement, misconduct, and other potential violations of laws, orders, regulations and policies when it involves DoW personnel and programs. Supervises investigative personnel and directs the execution of complex DoW inquiries; ensures compliant processing of contacts and complaints; protects sources of information; provides authoritative oversight of sensitive, high-visibility matters. Supervises up to 8 investigators; conducts appraisals; manages time and attendance; directs required training; and enforces strict compliance, accountability, and disciplined leadership across all supervisory and administrative functions. Experienced in leading teams; skilled in assessing program compliance; knowledgeable of DoW missions and structures; proficient in reports and analyses; and expert in investigative methods, legal standards, and FOIA/PA disclosure requirements. Determines required actions and agencies for inquiry; ensures accurate referrals, special handling, escalation of sensitive matters, and validated case entry; and provides senior oversight of national-security and senior DoW-interest allegations. Provides guidance on case management; briefs senior leaders; directs administrative closures; assesses inquiry quality, timeliness, and compliance; recommends follow-up actions; and reports deficiencies requiring corrective action. Time in Grade: For entry at the GS-14 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-13 or equivalent or higher grade, in the Federal Service. Specialized Experience: Applicants must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-13 or equivalent within the federal service. Specialized Experience is defined as demonstrated experience planning work for staff, setting priorities, evaluating performance, providing guidance, interviewing and making recommendations on potential new hires; resolving issues, administering minor discipline; identifying training needs, and improving work quality. You must meet the minimum qualification requirements as stated in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions: www.opm.gov/qualifications/Standards/group-stds/gs-prof.asp Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social) is qualifying. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience. Qualification and time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
