# Senior Backend Software Engineer ($176K–$242K + Equity) Lunch Logistics Platform

About the job This role is being recruited by CoffeeSpace on behalf of an anonymous company transforming how employees experience lunch at work through partnerships with local restaurants. We’re identifying a small number of exceptional backend engineers from our network. If there’s a strong fit, we’ll introduce you directly to the team. Location: New York, New York, United States Compensation: $176K–$242K base + competitive equity Employment type: Full-time About the company This company partners with top local restaurants to batch hundreds of orders, providing companies with an easy way to offer high-quality, individually packed meals without fees or tips. The company is backed by significant funding and has an engineering-first culture, where engineers make primary decisions and work on real production systems with real customers. About the role As a Senior Backend Software Engineer, you will help architect and scale the systems powering the company's real-time logistics and operations. This is a high-impact role for an engineer who enjoys solving ambiguous problems and owning technical decisions from architecture through production. You will build backend services that support the company’s web and mobile products, tackling challenges across logistics, routing, automation, scalability, and reliability. You will collaborate closely with frontend, mobile, product, and operations teams, playing an important role in shaping how the company designs and scales its backend infrastructure as the business grows. What You’ll Do Design, build, and maintain high-quality backend systems using languages such as Java and Go Lead major technical initiatives across vehicle routing optimization, logistics automation, scalability, and reliability Own backend architecture and drive solutions to complex, ambiguous, and high-impact problems Build and scale core APIs, services, and data stores that support the company’s products and operations Establish best practices around testing, monitoring, observability, reliability, and system performance Partner with product and engineering leadership to translate technical priorities into quarterly roadmaps Collaborate closely with frontend, mobile, product, and operations teams to deliver end-to-end solutions Mentor other engineers through technical guidance, design reviews, code reviews, and hands-on collaboration Ideal Candidate 5 to 8 years of experience in backend engineering roles Proficiency in Java, Go, and distributed systems Experience with APIs and data stores Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with complex systems Ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor other engineers Next steps 1.
