NONDESTRUCTIVE TEST EXAMINER HELPER

You will serve as a NONDESTRUCTIVE TEST EXAMINER HELPER in the NDT Inspection Branch (Code 135), of the Non-Nuclear Inspection and NDT Division, of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. You will follow cleanliness requirements. You will perform assigned duties. You will use all tools of the trade. You will acquire knowledge of how the various systems and how they are installed, operated, and tested. You will skill progresses, performs tasks without close supervision, with the objective of eventually qualifying for Journeyman status. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision, performing duties such as: • Demonstrating Knowledge of shop mathematics is required to calculate dimensions, interpret measurements, and evaluate test results. • Assisting with inspection data and the test results to evaluate the material's condition and determine the presence. • Ensuring equipment performance across varying materials, thicknesses, and inspection conditions. • Helping to prepare detailed inspection reports and communicates findings to engineering and maintenance personnel to support repair or replacement decisions. • Following safety procedures to mitigate hazards.
