What We Are Looking For Aldridge is seeking an Estimator (Utility) to join our dynamic and energetic team in Cheverly, MD. This role will work collaboratively with the estimating and project teams to coordinate plan procurement, bid preparation and bid review with our estimating administrators. What You’ll Do Understand plans, specs, and provide accurate takeoffs. Ability to work in Bluebeam and use different estimating software. Create BOMs for supplier quotations. Reach out to subcontractors and suppliers for quotes. Read all notes and details of the drawings. Look for job risks and relay to the Senior Estimator. Ensure accuracy and timeliness of bids, with sufficient time left to allow appropriate document preparation, verification, and delivery. Prepare quantity take-off from plans, labor units, material pricing and quotes, estimate write up and extensions. Bid documents must be prepared and/or checked for accuracy by estimator and manual estimates or extensions must be verified by the Estimating Administrator or Division Support person. Ensure compliance with general and special conditions of bid, insurance requirements, minority quotas (both contractor and work force) as well as compliance with applicable codes. Prepare and summarize bids in an organized, concise manner that can be easily understood by Division Manager, Ops Manager, and President. Obtain bids from customers and report to Division Manager and Estimating Administrator for tracking purposes; if a bid is awarded, conduct a post-bid review with assigned Project Manager Ensure prioritization of Aldridge safety culture and requirements Understand and utilize Agile tools and information Actively participate in weekly pre-bid meetings and periodic pre-construction meetings. Utilize a team approach to defining project related tasks and functions for all assigned project team members Actively use project notebooks to meet all project requirements for documenting, measuring, tracking and resolving project issues. Maintain current, accurate and complete project notebooks for all assigned projects Host regular performance conversations to set goals, provide feedback, and support the development of direct reports Who You Are Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Management, or other related construction/Union trade background 3-5+ years’ experience in estimating Bluebeam and Excel experience is preferred Ability to read prints and perform accurate take-offs Excels at time management and prioritization, consistently meeting deadlines Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization Demonstrated ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications Confidence in presenting ideas and recommendations to executive teams, while remaining diplomatic and respectful Willing to travel to our Headquarters in Illinois for training/bid reviews and closeouts Who We Are At Aldridge, we invite you to be a part of our dynamic team, where your skills are not only valued but crucial to our success. What We Offer The annual base pay for this role is between $80,000 - $120,000. The actual pay is dependent upon many factors, including: location, work experience, education, training, transferable skills, business needs, and market conditions. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. The role may also be eligible for a bonus.
