AWS Serverless Backend Engineer (TypeScript)

AWS Serverless Backend Engineer (TypeScript) Overview We are seeking an experienced contract software engineer to own, maintain, and scale our AWS Lambda-based backend architecture. You will be responsible for the "edge" layer of our system, managing event-driven orchestrations, API routing, and cloud service integrations, like AWS Control Tower. Key Responsibilities Develop & Refine Handlers: Write and optimize TypeScript AWS Lambda functions serving as entrypoints for orchestration, API requests, and event processing. Maintain Multi-Cloud Provisioning: Manage complex workflows that drive account onboarding and SSO setup across AWS and Azure (app registration, metadata uploads, certificates, policy configuration, and role synchronization). Event-Driven Integration: Process async payloads (SQS, SNS) to trigger, advance, or monitor multi-step AWS Step Functions state machines. Data Sync & Housekeeping: Build and maintain scheduled processes for data reconciliation between identity providers, alongside database housekeeping (DynamoDB TTLs, archival, and expiry notifications). API Management: Support our HTTP RPC layer, wiring up routers and context handling with strict CORS configurations. Operational Tooling: Connect event pipelines to external systems, transforming payloads into operational tickets (e.g. ServiceNow incidents). Ensure Code Quality: Write comprehensive unit and integration tests using Jest for every handler. Required Experience Core AWS Services: Deep infrastructure knowledge and solid conceptual understanding of the AWS ecosystem, specifically managing resources (AWS Control Tower), security, and networking. TypeScript Mastery: Expert-level knowledge of TypeScript, specifically for custom backend services and serverless runtimes. AWS SDK v3: Extensive hands-on experience using the modern AWS SDK v3 to interact with DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, and Step Functions. Serverless Architectures: Deep understanding of AWS Lambda lifecycles, event source mappings, and performance optimization. Testing Rigour: Proven track record of writing isolated, deterministic unit tests in TypeScript using Jest for complex asynchronous workflows. Nice to Have tRPC: Prior experience building type-safe APIs using tRPC inside serverless environments is highly valued. Identity & SSO Workflows: Experience automating Azure AD / Entra ID app registrations, SAML/OIDC configurations, or multi-account AWS IAM provisioning. 🌍 Why Cressoft?
