This position is the Administrative Support Assistant to the Chief, Community Engagement & Veteran Experience (CEVE) Service and serves as administrative support for the sections of the CEVE Service at the Ralph H. Johnson Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
This GS-6 position is an intermediate level position leading to the full performance level of GS-7. The incumbent is required to satisfactorily complete both on-the-job training and related instructions from the immediate supervisor. Duties include but not limited to: Serves as administrative support for the sections of CEVE Service. Knowledge of programs under the supervisor's jurisdiction must have an intimate knowledge of his/her policies, views and special interests, including his/her official social and community engagement obligations. Receives supervision from the CEVE Supervisory Administrative officer and will initially be under close supervision, which will be gradually relaxed except when performing duties which are new, unfamiliar, and relatively complex. Knowledge of high-Ievel computer and word processing language. assists the Patient Advocate Office by receiving and managing office calls, visitors, and correspondence. Ensures that the Patient Advocate centralized telephone line is answered and calls are triaged to the appropriate Patient Advocate. Responsible for ensuring all voicemails on the Patient Advocate centralized telephone line are responded to in a timely manner and cleared as appropriate. Assists the CEVE section by greeting all visitors, ascertaining need(s), responding to the appropriate need(s) per policy and routing them to the appropriate person or service for follow-through. Answers all incoming telephone calls to address independently if able or transfers appropriately. Assists the Congressional Liaison by transferring highly sensitive documents received from congressional offices, Veterans and their families, and the VISN office to electronic format. Serves as Unit Timekeeper and assumes all the responsibility to that element of the position. Additional duties as assigned Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.
