Cornerstone provides scholarships for over 100 inner-city preschool-aged children at the Rosa Valdez Learning Center and supports more than 150 childcare centers across the Tampa Bay region. Through its Children’s Nutrition Connection, the organization helps serve over 5,000,000 nutritious meals to more than 18,000 children each year. Cornerstone also operates a community garden and leads a Garden Movement Program to encourage gardens at childcare centers and churches in food desert neighborhoods. Role Description The Customer Care Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Tampa, FL, responsible for providing responsive and compassionate support to families, childcare centers, and community partners. This position handles incoming calls, emails, and in-person inquiries, answering questions about programs, eligibility, enrollment, and services, and ensuring that individuals receive accurate and timely information. The specialist will maintain detailed records in customer databases, process updates and requests, and coordinate with internal teams to resolve issues and improve service experiences. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring customer feedback, assisting with problem resolution, and supporting outreach and program communications that reflect Cornerstone’s mission and values. The role requires consistent professionalism, empathy, and clear communication while working in a fast-paced, community-focused environment. Qualifications Ability to maintain high levels of Customer Satisfaction and deliver proactive Customer Service in a nonprofit or community-focused setting. Experience in Customer Support, including handling phone, email, and in-person inquiries with empathy and professionalism. Strong Communication skills, both verbal and written, with the capacity to explain program information clearly to diverse audiences. Solid Analytical Skills to interpret customer needs, track issues, and support continuous improvement in service processes. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in social services, communications, or a related field is a plus. Proficiency with basic office software and customer relationship management (CRM) or database tools. Demonstrated ability to work on-site in Tampa, FL, in a collaborative, mission-driven team environment. Prior experience in human services, education, or childcare support is beneficial, as is familiarity with underserved communities.
