First Capitol Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team and play an integral role in both outpatient care and procedural services, including surgery and dentistry. We are looking for a versatile, client-focused technician who thrives in a dynamic general practice environment and enjoys being hands-on throughout the patient experience. Our RVTs are highly utilized across the hospital, working closely with doctors and the entire team to provide consistent, high-quality patient care. This is a role where you can truly use the full scope of your technical skills. Your day may take you from an exam room and client education to blood work, radiographs, IV catheter placement, anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, patient recovery, and discharge. We value credentialed technicians for the clinical knowledge, judgment, and communication skills they bring to every area of the hospital. You will play an important role in keeping cases moving efficiently while helping elevate the quality of medicine, client experience, and patient care. Responsibilities Include: Supporting efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows Assisting with appointments, including patient intake, obtaining vitals, vaccines, and treatment recommendations Performing venipuncture, IV catheter placement, blood work, and other diagnostic procedures Obtaining and assisting with interpretation of radiographs and cytology Performing dental procedures, including prophylaxis and dental radiography Preparing patients and equipment for surgery and dentistry Performing anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery Assisting with surgical procedures and maintaining a safe, efficient surgical workflow Completing medication and drug calculations and safely administering medications as directed Monitoring patients throughout procedures and recovery, recognizing changes and communicating concerns to the medical team Supporting pain management and preparing medications and discharge instructions for patients going home Maintaining accurate, detailed medical records and treatment documentation Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately Identifying patient concerns and supporting efficient case management across the hospital Building strong client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service Why This Role? This is not a position where your skills will sit on the sidelines. Our RVTs are utilized throughout the hospital and have the opportunity to be involved in nearly every part of the patient visit. From the first set of vitals to diagnostics, anesthesia, surgery or dentistry, recovery, pain management, and discharge, you will have an active role in delivering high-quality care.
