We take pride in delivering affordable housing solutions, and we invite you to join us on a journey toward social, economic, and racial equity.Property Accountant The Property Accountant reports to the Accounting Manager&nbsp;is responsible for the financial closing and reporting of a multiple partnership portfolio, including the analytical review and reconciliation of all entities in the portfolio in compliance with US GAAP and the&nbsp;MidPen&nbsp;Policy and Procedures for Financial Reporting.&nbsp;Excellent written and verbal communication skills are&nbsp;required, as the Property Accountant will work with a variety of team members in Property Management, Asset Management,&nbsp;and Resident Services as well as the management team at&nbsp;MidPen. This position is also responsible for communicating financial results to all levels in the organization.&nbsp; This is a hybrid position, based on current MidPen policy of working Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in the Foster City Office. Monday and Friday, option to work from home or the office. When working from home, requires a reliable internet connection. Responsibilities: Analyzes and interprets financial information,&nbsp;compiles&nbsp;and reports data for assigned portfolio of properties&nbsp; Prepares complex account reconciliation and journal entries. Performs&nbsp;on-going analytical review in support of the monthly close process. Prepares monthly analysis of account variances&nbsp; Ensures all inter-entity transactions are in balance. Analyzes variances prior to financial reporting close&nbsp; Reads and understands compliance and partnership documents, including regulatory and loan agreements,&nbsp;as well as the accounting treatment associated with each document&nbsp; Proactively researches and documents conclusions on accounting issues with&nbsp;appropriate understanding&nbsp;of relevant GAAP pronouncements&nbsp; Participates in meetings to communicate and share accounting and analysis information&nbsp; Prepares annual audit schedules and works with external auditors to complete audited financial statements and tax returns and ensures all are filed within timeline of partnership and other agreements&nbsp; Reviews and understands audits and footnotes prepared by external auditors. Monitors adherence to audit requirements and ensures full compliance&nbsp;in accordance with&nbsp;regulatory agencies&nbsp; Confirms surplus distributions are correctly calculated and appropriately distributed&nbsp; Presents financial information and appropriately answers accounting questions to management and boards of directors, as requested&nbsp; Provides ad-hoc reporting, as requested&nbsp; Reviews work prepared by the outsourced accounting team&nbsp; Performs other duties as assigned&nbsp; QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the education, knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and Experience&nbsp; Bachelor’s degree in the field of Accounting or Finance&nbsp;and&nbsp;three years of experience in accounting and financial analysis or an equivalent&nbsp;combination of education and&nbsp;relevant&nbsp;experience&nbsp; Experience using Property Accounting ERP software and working knowledge of leasing and rents
• Real Page and OneSite software experience preferred&nbsp; Strong GAAP knowledge&nbsp;required&nbsp; Experience in accounting for partnerships and related party transactions&nbsp;preferred&nbsp; Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities&nbsp; Proficient using Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, One Drive,&nbsp;and Outlook&nbsp; Strong ability to work independently and understand and explain financial concepts&nbsp; Detailed oriented – must be able to produce work product with&nbsp;a high level&nbsp;of accuracy&nbsp; Highly organized
• ability to multi-task, track progress, and balance priorities&nbsp; Excellent written and verbal communication skills&nbsp; Must be able to communicate with diverse parties within the&nbsp;Accounting&nbsp;team,&nbsp;Property Management, and&nbsp;Asset Management teams, and work collaboratively with those parties&nbsp; Possess&nbsp;the ability to analyze complex accounting transactions, understand complex accounting treatment of a variety of transactions,&nbsp;and resolve discrepancies in the financial data as part of the period closing process&nbsp; Commitment to the Mission and Values of&nbsp;MidPen&nbsp;Services and&nbsp;MidPen&nbsp;Housing&nbsp; Physical Requirements&nbsp; Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks &nbsp; Frequently sitting &nbsp; Occasionally stand/walk, reach/work above shoulders, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, use a telephone, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 15 pounds &nbsp; Rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel/crawl &nbsp; This description reflects management’s assignment of essential&nbsp;functions,&nbsp;it does not proscribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.&nbsp; Pay Range $80,000 - $95,000 Annual Salary
