Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor

About the Position: You will serve as supervisor of the maintenance staff. Exercise full supervisory responsibility for the control of work operations involving approximately 9 permanent and temporary employees. The maintenance staff is responsible for the operation and maintenance of flood control and navigation dams. Dam operation and maintenance duties include: computing and making flood releases; inspecting, repairing and maintaining the appurtenant structures and systems of the dam. You will assist with annual dam inspections. The maintenance staff is also responsible for the maintenance and repair of park facilities such as, public rest rooms, camp sites, picnic areas, park roads, etc. Plan daily, weekly and monthly work schedules. Establish shop deadlines and priorities. Select workers and assigns tasks to be performed. Explain work requirements, methods and procedures, instruct subordinates on new procedures and provide advice when problems arise Establish performance standards and make formal and informal appraisals. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to supervise. Experience mentoring other employees, performing and directing the performance of maintenance and repair work for electrical and mechanical equipment, plumbing systems, and carpentry and welding projects in accordance with established trade standards. Perform administrative duties associated with leadership and facility management such as establishing shop deadlines and priorities, maintaining production reports/records and assigning and evaluating work of staff. Independently perform and lead dam operation and maintenance duties to include computing and making flood releases, inspecting, repairing and maintaining appurtenant structures and systems of the dam. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Use moderate physical effort to stack, load, unload, move and carry tools, equipment and materials ranging in weight from 10 lbs to 50 lbs unassisted. Occasionally lifts heavier objects with assistance (e.g., using a hand truck). Required to reach, walk, stand, stoop, bend, kneel, crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Occasionally works in cramped quarters, or from ladders, scaffolds or platforms. Work is performed inside and outside in all types of weather (e.g., heat, cold, rain, wind, etc.) and usually in a dirty, dusty and/or greasy environment.
