As a Software Engineer at Lightcast, you will collaborate with engineers and product managers to design, build, and deliver high-quality, scalable software solutions. You will develop and maintain reliable systems, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and continuously improve the technologies and processes you work with. We welcome candidates with a range of backgrounds, including recent graduates and those with a few years of professional experience. What matters most is a strong foundation in software development, demonstrated technical capability, effective problem-solving skills, and the ability to contribute throughout the software development lifecycle. Major Responsibilities: Collaborate with engineers and product managers to understand requirements and develop effective software solutions. Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality, scalable, and reliable software using established coding standards and best practices. Troubleshoot and debug software to improve reliability, performance, and maintainability. Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback to peers, and incorporate feedback into your own work. Document code, features, systems, and processes to support collaboration and knowledge sharing. Apply software testing principles and methodologies throughout the development process. Work with relevant programming languages and technologies, such as TypeScript, Python, Go, or Rust. Work with databases, including SQL and NoSQL technologies, and cloud infrastructure such as AWS or similar platforms. Use modern development tools and practices, including Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and agentic development tools and workflows. Continuously develop technical knowledge and apply new learning to improve software, processes, and development practices. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent education, training, or practical experience. Demonstrated software engineering capability gained through professional experience, internships, coursework, projects, or other hands-on technical work. We encourage candidates ranging from recent graduates to those with 2+ years of professional experience to apply. Solid understanding of software development principles, data structures, algorithms, and software testing methodologies. Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as TypeScript, Python, Go, or Rust. Experience with databases, cloud infrastructure, and modern software development practices. Strong problem-solving, debugging, collaboration, and communication skills. Experience with web development frameworks and technologies, such as React, Angular, or Node.js, is a plus.
