Technical Project Manager

ECM PCB Stator Tech

Position Technical Project Manager – Electric Motors Location Bozeman, Montana About the Role E-Circuit Motors (ECM) designs and builds custom electric motors around our patented PCB Stator technology, replacing traditional copper windings with ultra-thin printed circuit board stators to deliver motors that are lighter, quieter, and more efficient. Our motors power applications across HVAC, robotics, e-mobility, medical devices, aerospace, and beyond. We're looking for a Technical Project Manager to own customer programs from initial concept through production launch. You'll be the bridge between our customers and our engineering and manufacturing teams, translating requirements into action, keeping projects on schedule and on budget, and making sure every motor we ship meets spec. This is a hands-on technical role. You'll sit in design reviews, weigh in on manufacturability, and troubleshoot problems alongside our engineers, so a mechanical engineering background is preferred. What You'll Do Manage multiple concurrent custom motor programs from quote through design, prototyping, validation, and production release with end-to-end ownership of customer programs. Own customer commitments and serve as the internal advocate for delivering against agreed technical, schedule, and commercial requirements. Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers: running design reviews, communicating status, and managing expectations on scope, schedule, and cost. Translate customer specifications into clear engineering requirements and statements of work. Lead cross-functional project teams spanning engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain. Build and maintain project schedules, budgets, and risk registers; flag issues early and drive them to resolution. Identify scope changes and their impact on schedule, cost and resources; coordinate commercial and technical resolution. Contribute to design reviews with an eye toward manufacturability, tolerancing, material selection, and cost. Operate with a "no task is too small" mentality—willing to step outside traditional PM boundaries to help write test plans, chase down critical parts, or physically assist with a dyno setup when the team needs it. Manage engineering changes and keep documentation current through product launch Support quoting and proposal development for new custom programs. Actively expedite materials, manage relationships with rapid-prototyping vendors, and push through supply chain bottlenecks to keep the engineering team moving. What You'll Bring Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related engineering field, or equivalent technical experience Minimum of 4 years of experience in project management, program management, or project engineering in a manufacturing environment Solid mechanical fundamentals: GD&T, tolerance analysis, material selection, and design for manufacturability Fluency reading engineering drawings and working knowledge of CAD (SolidWorks or similar) Proven ability to juggle multiple projects, priorities, and stakeholders at once Strong written and verbal communication skills — equally comfortable presenting to customers and to the shop floor Experience with project management tools (MS Project, etc.) and the ability to keep tracking lean and effective for a small team Ability to thrive in a fast-paced prototyping environment where designs iterate quickly and priorities can shift Nice to Have Experience with electric motors, rotating machinery, or electromechanical assemblies (axial-flux motor experience a big plus) Familiarity with PCB design, fabrication, or electronics manufacturing processes PMP certification or formal project management training Background in low-volume, high-mix, or build-to-order manufacturing Active Secret security clearance, or the eligibility to obtain one What We Offer Competitive base salary plus performance-based bonus opportunity Comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance 401(k) plan with company match Paid time off Career growth opportunities within a rapidly growing technology company
