Interns work alongside experienced professionals across both field and office settings, gaining meaningful, hands-on exposure to real projects. The program provides valuable insight and practical experience to help prepare students for a successful transition into full-time employment. Project Focus During your internship, you’ll have the opportunity to focus on one of the following key project areas: Corporate Interiors Core & Shell (Upgrades/Ground Up) Education Entertainment & Exhibitions Hospitality Retail Roles & Responsibilities Your internship will be focused on rotating through the following areas: Field Operations: Oversees day-to-day construction activities on site, ensuring projects stay on schedule and meet quality standards. Focuses on keeping everyone on-site safe, following regulations, and implementing safety programs. Observe and support trade coordination and construction sequencing. Attend project meetings, coordination meetings, and inspections as required. Assist in maintaining daily logs, site reports, photos, and progress documentation. Assist with RFIs, submittals, and document control. Assist with inspections, punch lists, and quality documentation. Estimating: Calculates cost for materials, labor, and time to help plan and bid for projects. Sees how much an entire project costs during the pre-construction stage and starts the bidding project & works with the client on what we offer. Assist with quantity takeoffs, pricing analyses, and cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment. Maintain subcontractor lists, supplier information, and estimating databases. Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams throughout the estimating process. Support bid preparation, tender documentation, and value engineering reviews. Maintain accurate estimating records, project files, and cost databases. Project Management: Coordinates all aspects of a project from start to finish – budget, schedule, team, and client communication. Ensures the project is completed efficiently and meets client expectations. Support Project Engineers, Project Managers, and Superintendents on active projects. Assist with project documentation, submittals, and information distribution. Attend project meetings and document key discussions and action items. Help track material deliveries and maintain project records. Perform additional project-related tasks as assigned by the team. This internship is fully on-site based at a JRM office or project location five days per week. Qualifications Minimum: Currently a rising junior or senior pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Engineering/Management, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Statistics, or a related field. Preferred: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint). Demonstrated interest in construction management with a willingness to learn and grow within the industry. Previous exposure to construction projects through work experience, internships, or trade-based roles.
