About the Position: This position is located at Naval Base Health Clinic Mayport. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Incentives may be available for highly qualified applicants. Provides the full scope of comprehensive dentistry by integrating restorative dentistry, prosthodontics, periodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, preventive dentistry, and other specialty services. Provides the full scope of comprehensive dentistry to achieve treatment goals related to aesthetics, function, structural integrity, and the biological needs of the patient. Coordinates multidisciplinary care with dental and medical specialists, modifies conventional treatment approaches for medically compromised patients, and provides comprehensive patient-centered care throughout the patient's treatment journey. Documenting care in approved electronic health record systems. Serves as the primary clinical consultant by collaborating with dentists, specialists, physicians, hygienists, residents, and allied health professionals to develop integrated treatment strategies. Leads or participates in peer review, patient safety, infection prevention, quality assurance, credentialing, and performance improvement initiatives. Mentors dentists, residents, hygienists, and dental assistants in comprehensive dentistry, multidisciplinary treatment planning, and evidence-based practice. Basic Requirement for Dentist (Comprehensive Dentistry): Education: Applicants must possess a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from a school approved by the American Dental Association (ADA) or the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Board Dental Examinations (NBDE) which are developed and administered by the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations (JCNDE) and possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Experience Required: A. Applicants must have completed a 3-year residency program in dentistry, oral health, craniofacial sciences, or a related medical science. OR B. Applicants must have three years of professional dentistry experience and/or training, equivalent to the next lower grade level (GP-12). OR C. Applicants must have completed a residency program in dentistry, oral health, craniofacial sciences, or a related medical science AND professional dentistry experience and/or training equivalent to the next lower grade level (GP-12). When combining residency program and professional dentistry experience and/or training to qualify, the total must be equal to or greater than three years. Note for Qualifying Experience: Qualifying experience involves the evaluation, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases, injuries, and disorders of the oral cavity and maxillofacial area. Examples of dentistry experience may include the removal of decay; filling cavities; straightening, extracting, and repairing teeth; treating gum diseases; performing corrective surgery; making measurements/models for dentures to replace missing teeth, administering anesthetics, writing prescriptions; and performing other requirements of the position. Medical Requirement: Applicants must be able to distinguish shades of color. The salary determination process begins after the initial job offer is accepted. This consists of the Activity Compensation Panel adding base pay and market pay to determine your starting salary and this will be provided to you once approved. FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
