Our work spans field construction, project delivery, operations, and corporate support in an environment where safety, execution, and reliability matter.The Opportunity Lead the environmental program for a transmission line construction project in the North Central United States. Reporting to the Director of Environment, the Project Environmental Manager serves as the project’s senior environmental lead, guiding field Environmental Specialists and working directly with project and construction leadership. You will turn environmental requirements into practical field direction, anticipate risks, and support responsible project delivery from planning through reclamation and closeout. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an experienced environmental professional who wants ownership of a project environmental program, meaningful involvement in construction decisions, and the opportunity to develop a field team. What You’ll Do Lead environmental compliance: Implement the project environmental program and ensure construction activities meet regulatory approvals, permit conditions, client requirements, and company standards. Partner with construction leadership: Integrate environmental requirements into work plans and schedules, giving internal crews and subcontractors clear, practical direction. Manage risks in the field: Identify environmental constraints, develop mitigation measures, and stop or redirect work when required to address environmental risks or non-compliance. Lead and develop the environmental team: Coordinate field coverage, set priorities, and provide technical guidance and mentorship to Environmental Specialists. Oversee incident response: Lead spill response coordination, environmental incident investigations, reporting, and corrective actions. Manage plans and stakeholder relationships: Prepare and review environmental plans and procedures, and serve as the primary project contact for environmental matters with clients and other stakeholders. Support reclamation and closeout: Coordinate pre- and post-construction environmental activities, assessments, and reclamation planning and implementation. What You’ll Bring A bachelor’s degree or higher in environmental science, physical or biological science, or a closely related field. Eight to ten years of dedicated, full-time experience leading environmental practitioners in an industrial setting, preferably in electrical utilities or construction. Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, industry practices, and environmental management systems applicable to linear infrastructure construction. Practical experience managing environmental compliance on active construction sites, including erosion and sediment control, stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPP), spill prevention and response, access management, wildlife protection, and reclamation. Demonstrated ability to work directly with construction supervision, exercise sound judgment, and provide clear direction when work needs to stop or change. Strong planning, communication, and relationship-building skills, including experience coordinating environmental activities with construction schedules and managing client and regulatory stakeholder requirements. Ability to produce clear, professional environmental plans and reports and work confidently with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Adobe. Experience on large-scale transmission, pipeline, road, rail, or similar infrastructure projects is preferred. Experience working with U.S. federal, state, and local environmental agencies is an asset. Project & Work Schedule Anticipated rotation: Three weeks on, followed by one week off. Anticipated workweek: Six ten-hour days, with Sundays off during the work rotation. Flexibility: Rotation and working hours may change with project needs, construction sequencing, and critical phases. Employment requirements: Legal eligibility to work in the United States, completion of background screening and a criminal record check, and successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing for site access. The range shown is the expected base pay range for this role. Final compensation will be determined based on role requirements, experience, qualifications, work location, applicable project/site requirements, internal equity, and any applicable collective agreement or union requirements. This range does not include overtime, premiums, per diem / LOA, bonuses, benefits, or other forms of compensation unless specifically stated in the job posting.Base Pay Range$50—$58 USDForbes Bros.
