About the Position: This position is with the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), Construction and Engineering Research Laboratory. This position is being filled as an Engineering Technician DE-03 (GS-08/10) at Fort Leonard Wood

Assembles, tests, operates, and maintains experimental energy, water system and other equipment, machinery, and tools in field environments.
Provide technical support and assistance for complex studies, working independently with limited technical direction from senior staff.
Coordinates closely with engineers, scientists, technicians, and contractors to resolve routine operational issues and support overall mission execution.
Maintains, repairs, and operates heavy equipment and conducts maintenance as needed. Tows loads up to 20,000 lbs.
Assists in the supply management, requisition and acquisition of various equipment, and items necessary for the operation and maintenance of Contingency Basing Integration Training and Evaluation Center (CBITEC).
Operates and utilizes heavy equipment (including excavators, bulldozers, and telehandlers) to construct field test sites, deploy instrumentation, and manage field site logistics.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Coordinating with various team members to resolve routine operational issues; Providing maintenance, repair, and operation of vehicles, and of equipment such as: generators, power distribution, and pumps; Providing technical support and training in the operation of equipment, machinery and/or tools. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service DE-02 (GS-07). OR Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; OR (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
