We’re looking for an on-site Human Resources (HR) Manager who embodies the Hyatt values and has previous hospitality experience. This HR Manager position works in partnership with the Human Resources team, hotel leaders and hotel colleagues. This HR Manager position helps to oversee different areas of HR as needed and assists the HR Coordinator as a mentor. The collective HR team works as a team to deliver best in class experiences to all colleagues, provides exceptional service and engages with all colleagues. The HR Manager position will function as a generalist role, where the HR Manager will be expected to have some knowledge in all areas of the HR discipline. This specific HR Manager position will focus on these main areas: recruitment, colleague engagement and retention (reducing turnover), colleague communications and being a back-up in all payroll functions. This position will also include all other areas of HR including: training & development, benefits, compensation, colleague and labor relations, work comp, leaves and compliance. In partnership with the Area Director of Human Resources & Assistant Director of Human Resources, the HR Manager assists in short and long-term planning of the HR function and is involved in executing the HR initiatives and hotel goals. Our hotels are complex hotels, where there are two Hyatt hotels next to each other that we help to manage and support. With the recent five-year celebration of our two hotels, we need a leader that is ready to help bring our hotels to the next level, through a service-oriented culture and through a lens of care. The salary range for this position is $ 70,304.00/ per year to $89,250.00/ per year. This is the pay range for this position that The Seabird Resort reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors, such as experience and education. Responsibilities / Duties: Recruiting, retaining and inspiring a service-oriented culture is one of the most critical roles for this position. Main responsibilities fall into these key areas: Recruitment & staffing needs Colleague engagement and retention (reducing turnover) Primary back-up for Payroll for two properties Assist with compliance, includes trainings, certifications and compensation. Training & Development Support HR policies and procedures Trusted advisor to managers & colleagues on CA employment law & Hyatt policies with guidance from HRD & Asst. HRD Colleague & labor relations Assist with benefits programs, workers’ compensation & leave of absences in partnership with our third-party administrators and with HRD & Asst. HRD Colleague communications Champion all Hyatt programs, including Hyatt Diversity and Inclusion programs Community partner with sister hotels & community Other duties as assigned by manage Qualifications 1 year or more of progressive HR experience 2 years or more of hotel experience Preferred bilingual English / Spanish Previous recruitment experience Previous payroll experience Preferred SHRM or PHR, HR certification Preferred Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent HR experience Service-oriented with professional presentation skills & professional demeanor Knowledge of CA employment law Professional and consistent leadership skills Confidentiality and discretion in all HR matters Possess the following strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, proven track record in high volume concept, effective communicator, effective in providing exceptional customer service through a lens of care, ability to improve the bottom line, and attention to detail. Refined clear & concise written and verbal communication Must be proficient in Microsoft office, including intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
