# Safety and Occupational Health Manager

U.S. Army Medical Command

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as the Director, Safety Management Office for the United States Army Medical Command and the Army Surgeon General.
Develops broad command policies, procedures, and guidelines as they apply to medical readiness.
Develops, implements and oversees action plans to correct deficiencies and improve outcomes.
Reviews and analyzes safety and occupational health data to assess the effectiveness of the safety and occupational health program.
Evaluates the broad and varied command accident, injury and illness prevention and safety program through establishment and implementation of risk assessments.
Evaluates the qualifications and competencies of all safety and occupational health professionals to provide recommendations for necessary training and education.
Provides consultation and advice to major subordinate commands on safety and occupational health program management.
Represents the command on technical committees developing general plans and procedures for carrying out research and experimental projects.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) developing broad command policies, procedures, and guidelines as they apply to medical readiness, medical system acquisition, and medical logistics; 2) reviewing and analyzing safety and occupational health data to assess the effectiveness of the safety and occupational health program; AND 3) providing consultation and advice on safety and occupational health program management. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
